Solemn Ted

We aren't quite sure what's up with Solemn Ted. After all he's made from the finest tipped and blended imported mohair. So he can't be distressed about his looks. And he is bound to find a great new home. So his future looks bright. But still there's that solemn look. Maybe it's just a touch of Puritan in his BNA. Or maybe the cold, cruel world is getting him down. You know Teddy Bears bear a great responsibility what with lifting other folks spirits all the time with hardly a day off except for Christmas every other year. Teddy Bears are a tough and hardy lot but they have a sensitive side. Maybe Ted was tired of holding it all in or maybe he's just looking for a friend.
Blue Bayou

"I'm going back someday, come what may, to Blue Bayou, where the folks are fine and the world is mine.

Pretty In Pink

7.5" bear handcrafted from soft curly mohair made from the fleece of baby Angora goats

Bits and Pieces Bears
Stearnsy Bits and Pieces Bears are made from different pieces of material that we have left over from the process of making bigger bears. Much of the material we use to make Stearnsy Bears is expensive and unique and even if it wasn't we would still not want it to go to waste. So when there is not enough of any particular material to make a bear with we save it and then we put together for our Bits and Pieces Bears. It makes for some really special bears.

Examples of Stearnsy Old Softies that could be priced $30 and up.
Is the cold cruel world getting you down? We can help! This is what our old softies are extra good for. If you need a bear a you can hug or perhaps a bear that your grandbaby can hug, this is it? While most of the bears we do are what we would consider classic style, that is a hard stuffed jointed bear. We recognize there is a genuine need for a soft huggy bear as well. Why now more than ever there needs to be a bear that is a comfort to hold. They also are good to sleep with, what with no snoring or rolling around in bed. Our old softies are around 17" tall and made from a wide variety of fabrics. These are just right for little or big babies.

Her most prized possession is a silk jewelry fold given to her by her late husband Bobby Cantrell. God rest his soul. Cloie and Bobby were the first folks in the neighbor hood to have air conditioning in their car and many was the time, on a hot summer's day, you could hear her say "start the cooler, Bobby".

Moonpie Brown

Ready for Sunday School. Moonpie Brown stands in at just under 24" tall and is made from a great vintage coat with just a bit of an old white coat for accent. He was supposed to be all brown but I made a mistake when I was cutting him out. 29 years in the teddy bear business and still screwing things up. But I think he turned out extra special because of it. There is no mistaking the wonderful vintage little boy's sun suit and bow tie he is wearing. Another one of a kind Stearnsy Bear.

Mohair is mentioned in The Bible, in the Old Testament. That's how old it is. Mohair fabric is fashioned from the fleece of Angora Goats. A fables material, prized over the centuries for it's softness, dyed brilliance, and durability. It is still valued as a staple of the fashion industry, but considered one of the ultimate materials to make bears from. Many bear collectors recognize the value of a mohair bear as a good investment and worth any extra costs. Prices vary from $100 to $225 per yard. Expensive but worth it.
8" tall, honey color German mohair bear. Classic style.

Walden

"Simplicity and self-reliance, The Stearnsy Bears' motto." Walden is just waiting to make someone a stout hearted companion, faithful and true. Walden believes that simplicity is a virtue. To that end, his only earthly possessions are his 1960s era "Adam Furst" bow tie and the box it came in. A close friend loaned him the chair. Walden does not believe the measure of a bear is earthly possessions. Walden stands ready to supply the kind of friendship that Teddy Bears do best. To always be there no matter what the circumstance, to always have a cheerful demeanor, and to treat those he meets like he would wish to be treated. You can't ask for more than that. Walden is around 22" tall and weighs in at 3.83 lbs. He is made from a really distinctive mohair material called Mecki. It's an old Steiff Color. He's a good bear.
This 10" bear is made from pieces of classic gold and brown German mohair.

Ozark Mountain Yeti Bear

Ozark Mountain Yeti Bear."Hootin and Hollerin." Which is no more than you would expect from the Ozark Yeti and don't call me, Bigfoot, please. He's my uncle's mother's cousin. Of course many people think only of Nepal when you mention Yeti. Those folks haven't been to the Ozarks. The Ozark branch of the Yetis did originate there. First mentioned in 1832, the James Prinsep's Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal published trekker B. H. Hodgson's account of the Yeti in northern Nepal. That was us. Over the years the Ozark Yetis have become quite civilized from living in close proximity to the Ozark Mountain Hillbillies. It does rub off. Other than a penchant for hootin and hollerin at inopportune times, the Ozark Yeti is quite well behaved. Just don't take him to any funerals. This great 12" tall bear is made from a white color German Schulte mohair. It has a 3 inch pile and it is lovely. It is also the most expensive mohair we have ever used.

Old Rover. "Man's best friend and a lot less trouble than a real dog." He is about 11" tall and 11" long and made from a great old coat.

Uncle Bob

"A cat is man's best friend or vice a versa." Uncle Bob the cat is about 6" long and about 5" tall and about 3 1/2" wide. The material is some really cool long thick pile stuff so that makes Uncle Bob a long haired cat. I had a late Uncle named Uncle Bob who really liked animals. Besides dogs and cats he had at different times an owl, skunk, racoon and a hawk. So we named this cat is his memory. I sure he would have approved.
Little Jack

Little Jack is made from premium German mohair and made for a lifetime of love. He stands just a smidge under 4" to the tip of his left ear and just about 3 1/4" to the tip of his right ear. He is almost 4" long to the tip of his little black tail. His size qualifies him for our small dog category. That is just his outside size. He maybe little on the outside but he is big on the inside.
