Jesus thoughts. Thank you for Ruth.

And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her. And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law. And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. Ruth 1 KJV

Lord, thank you for the story of Ruth. Thank you for her words of love and the heart you gave her. Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. Spoken not to her husband but to her mother-in-law. Has a more beautiful description of what all-in love between your created children ever been penned? Love that stands the test of time, love that stands the heartache this world can bring, love for another more than self. Love that models you. It's beautiful beyond measure to be loved like that. And it's beautiful beyond measure to love like that. I believe you have placed the capacity for this kind love into every human soul. And sadly, as we all know, sometimes it does not comes to fulfillment but when it does it's the best thing this world has to offer. Ruth chose to love like that. We can choose to love like that as well. Thank you for the story of Ruth. Thank you for teaching her to love like that. That you for teaching us through her. Thank you for being the creator of love. Lord, teach us to expand our love, teach us to give it away not just to the lovely but to the unlovely, not just to those inside our circle but those to have no circle. Lord, Jesus, I think you ask us to love like that as best we can. For that is how you love each of us, undeservedly and beyond measure. Thanks and Amen.
